As far as we know, there are two kinds of package for the 3030 smd leds: EMC material package 3030 smd leds and PCT material package 3030 smd leds.

EMC type is more expensive than the PCT type bracket.

But do you know the other difference between EMC 3030 smd led and PCT 3030 smd leds?

What does EMC and PCT mean in full name?

EMC smd led bracket, also called with EEMC LED bracket. Its full name is White Epoxy Molding Compound LED Leadframe. 
It refers to a new type of highly integrated LED bracket (frame) that uses a special white epoxy resin material to mold a light reflector cup on an LED copper bracket through technical processes such as etching and injection molding.

What is PCT bracket full name? I guess that it is plastic compound LED Leadframe. The material of the PCT bracket is polyethylene 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol terephthalate.

It is a complicated chemical compound.

 

What is the different between EMC 3030 smd leds and PCT 3030 smd leds?

1. Material difference:

The main material of the EMC bracket in the LED is epoxy resin, which is a thermosetting material; while the PCT bracket is a thermoplastic material, which is a high temperature resistant, semi-crystalline thermoplastic. 

That means EMC bracket can stand with higher heat temperature compared with PCT LED bracket.

 

2. Material liquidity is different

The fluidity of PCT is slightly poor, and it can only be used as extrusion grade, which is relatively brittle; while EMC, with strong fluidity, is used for MAP encapsulation, with higher efficiency, and its air tightness, high temperature aging resistance, and UV attenuation resistance are high.

That means EMC LED bracket base LED production is more complicated. LED factory has to cut the LED base by special cutting access to make the whole EMC LED bracket into small pieces 3030 smd leds. It also makes the whole cost higher in that way.

However, 3030 PCT smd leds can be directly peeled off from the complete LED base.

3. Different high temperature resistance
Its high temperature resistance and UV resistance performance are quite different. PCT can currently achieve 1W, while EMC can achieve 3W. PCT brackets are generally used for small and medium-power LED packaging, usually no more than 1W. Commonly used models are 2835 and 3030.

EMC smd leds bracket can be used as max 3w, such as 3w 3535 EMC smd leds. But right now more and more 3535 smd leds are using ceramic package instead of EMC package. EMC bracket is using more and more by 3030 EMC smd leds.

 

4. Cost different

Due to the material difference and production process difference, it makes the EMC 3030 smd led cost higher a lot compared with PCT 3030 smd led.  But its advantage compared with PCT led bracket is so big. So more and more clients are using this EMC bracket 3030 smd led instead of PCT bracket 3030 smd leds.

 

This bracket is suitable for the packaging application of LED medium and high power lamp beads, which can be finally used in lighting or backlighting. Compared with traditional PPA, PCT and other bracket, it has the advantages of high heat resistance, high current, high power, high density, UV resistance, and small size, and is suitable for mass production applications.
