Howe Technology Launches Small Diameter Cable Module For Disposable Endoscopes Equipped With MiniLED Illumination

Dec 30, 2021

A few days ago, Howe Technology announced the launch of unique small-diameter cable modules with MiniLED lighting for disposable endoscopes-OVMed®OCHSA and OCHTA.

This fully integrated medical-grade imaging subsystem combines an ultra-small-diameter camera module with an upgraded OVMed cable and MiniLED lighting device to form a complete assembly that has been fully medically tested. This product can provide excellent image quality, reduce development costs, and shorten time to market.

Ehsan Ayar, medical product marketing manager of Howwell Technology, said that in the past, disposable endoscopes and catheter designers had to spend a lot of time and cost to separately purchase cables and LEDs, and then pair them with the company's wafer-level modules. Today, the company is helping customers shorten time to market with a complete, fully tested subsystem that can be integrated into disposable endoscopes, allowing doctors to see more details and reach the smallest anatomical structures of the body.

According to reports, the OVMed OCHSA cable module with digital MIPI output provides 800x800 pixel resolution and high-speed MIPI digital interface, which is suitable for endoscopes with larger outer diameters, such as bronchoscopy, thoracoscopy, thoracoscopy, mediastinoscopy, and twelve fingers. Colonoscopy and amnioscopy. The cable module is designed to handle short and long distances, and can be customized as needed.

The OVMed OCHTA cable module with analog output integrates Howe Technology's new OH0TA image sensor. This sensor is smaller in size than its predecessor, which holds the Guinness World Records, with a resolution four times higher, and provides wafer-level optics in a compact single component. The ultra-small size of the OCHTA cable module enables endoscopic equipment to penetrate into the body for neurological, ophthalmology, ENT, heart, spine, urology, gynecology, arthroscopy and other inspections and operations. The module can also be used in dental and veterinary applications.

The integrated MiniLED lighting device that can precisely control the brightness can help surgeons achieve precise brightness control, allowing them to clearly see anatomical structures that were previously invisible. The product has high contrast in a small local area, is suitable for extremely small package sizes, and can provide individual brightness and darkness control for multispectral (RGB/IR) equipment during surgery.

Both cable modules are now available for samples and flexible configurations: short (0.25m to 3.0m) or long (3m to 5m). The integrated MiniLED lighting function will be launched on January 1, 2022.
