Light Source Provided By Nichia! Another Company Launched A Dual-purpose Lamp For Sterilization And Lighting!

Nov 29, 2021

Recently, Japan's Sanfeng Engineering Co., Ltd. announced that it will launch dual-purpose lamps for lighting and sterilization, using Nichia's NF2W585AR-P8 LED as the light source. It is understood that this type of lighting and sterilization lamps can be used in supermarkets, food factories and other places that require sanitation management, as well as kitchens, schools and other places that need to eradicate Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, and positive bacilli.

According to GMKJ LED, NF2W585AR-P8, also known as dual-purpose LED, is designed to inactivate bacterial pathogens including Pseudomonas, Staphylococcus and E. coli, while providing visible light. The package size of the product is 4×3.6 mm, which can produce high-quality white light while resisting bacterial pathogens. The LED emits light with a wavelength of 405 nm, and combined with Nichia's phosphor technology, it can provide a uniform spectral power distribution (SPD) throughout the human visual range, and is mainly used to defend and kill pathogens such as Staphylococcus and E. coli.

The design of the LED is based on the concept of continuous disinfection, which can maintain uninterrupted disinfection operation 24 hours a day, instead of inactivating pathogens instantly like the UVC band (100-280nm).

Nichia stated that the radiation produced by the 405 nm wavelength used by the LED will inactivate bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staph and E. coli (O157). And released the test results performed at the Industrial Technology Center of Tokushima Prefecture, which showed that the 1000lx radiation of 9 LEDs at a distance of 90cm inactivated 98.9% of Pseudomonas aeruginosa within 5 hours and inactivated within 24 hours 99.3% of Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

According to the spectral power distribution diagram, it is shown that the peak of the light wave is in the area where the sensitivity of the human eye is reduced. This peak is much lower than the biological clock stimulation zone, so it will not affect the human biological clock, so it can be widely used in public facilities.
