How much power can the LED plant light reach the light intensity of the sun?
Not all lights in the sun are absorbed by plants, and LED plant lights emit light according to the spectrum required by plants. Assuming that the light intensity of sunlight on plants is 100,000 lux, how much lux does the light provided by LED plant lights need to be equal to the efficiency of the sun for plant growth?
LED plant lights provide the required light energy for photosynthesis of plants, but it is incomparable with natural sunlight. The term of light intensity used in the field of plant lighting is PPFD, and its unit is umol/s/m2. The main difference with lux lux is that the weighting of different spectral components is considered.
The value of 100,000 lux of natural light converted into PPFD is 1850umol/s/m2.
LED plant light is an artificial light source, and its secondary light distribution scheme and installation distance determine the light intensity that can be achieved on plant leaves. For example, the 320W plant light introduced by our company can achieve an effective PPFD of about 200umol/s/m2 at an installation distance of 1.5m. If the installation distance is shortened to 0.5m, it can reach 1800umol/s/m2 (quadratic multiples). In the lighting design of plant supplement light, in addition to PPFD, it is necessary to consider the uniformity of light and economy. This requires a compromise between variables such as the total power of the luminaire, installation height, and arrangement.
