Why LED grow lights are more popular than other grow lights?
HID, CFL and LED plant growth lights can well maintain and promote the growth of indoor plants. In this case, why choose LED grow lights instead of CFL or HID?
The fact is that, compared with the other two options, LED grow lights have many advantages.
1. Full spectrum light is best
Although both CFL and HID growth lamps provide light in the PAR range of the electromagnetic spectrum, a bulb can only emit a specific wavelength of light. Unfortunately, different colors are more effective for different plant growth stages. This means that when using CFL or HID, indoor gardeners will most likely have to purchase two or more different plant growth lights.
On the other hand, LED plant lights can provide one color in the spectrum, or consumers can also buy those with full electromagnetic spectrum colors. These are called full-spectrum LED plant growth lights.
2. As we all know, LED can emit more light and consume less power.
This means that compared to CFL and HID bulbs, LED grow lights are very energy-efficient and have a longer lifespan.
3. LED provides a safe grow light option; especially around the house.
Compared with HID or CFL grow lights, they are also different because LEDs generate electricity through the circuit-no gas, mercury, lead or any other harmful elements are required.

Although LED grow lights are usually the more expensive option, the total price of the entire installation may actually be cheaper than systems using CFL or HID. This is because CFL and HID grow lights actually need a ballast to control the current of the bulb, and a reflector, because the emitted light is often wasted and needs to be reflected on the plants. The most important thing is that, as we all know, these two kinds of plant growth lights have a short lifespan, and need to be replaced more frequently than LED plant growth lights.
