Fujifilm Introduces Two New Presses
Fujifilm has introduced two new presses, a flatbed press called the Acuity Prime, and a series of major updates to the roll-to-roll press Acuity Ultra.
It is understood that the Acuity Prime is a machine with a print size of 2.54 x 1.7m and can handle media thicknesses up to 51mm. Fujifilm says it is designed to optimize cost performance through features such as air cooling and single-phase power operation of the UV LED curing system. .
The roll-to-roll press Acuity Ultra R2 is the successor to the model introduced at Fespa 2018. Available in 3.2 and 5m formats, the Ultra R2 is claimed to be the same quality and reliability as its predecessor, but with a host of design improvements that improve ease of use and overall productivity. Offers up to eight channels in a variety of ink colors, with a choice of traditional mercury lamp curing or UV LEDs for six-color or white configurations for maximum productivity or reduced operating costs and energy usage.
Epson Strengthens Inkjet Printer Integration Technology
Epson made it possible to integrate GM's system with the latest SurePress L-6534VW UV inkjet digital label press and provide "a more efficient solution that simplifies end-to-end high-volume production of labels." Specifically, Epson presses can be run in-line with GM's LUW500 unwinder, AVT or BST inspection units, and GM DC330 post-processing. Epson claims to have developed this configuration to provide an "integrated, efficient and simplified label printing and decoration solution to meet the demands of high-volume label production."
It is understood that the SurePress L-6534VW UV inkjet digital label printer prints at speeds of up to 50m/min with UV LED fixation between colors, resulting in sharper text and smoother vignetting. The press supports a wide variety of paper and film label substrates from 80-320 microns in thickness, and can print in a 330mm format. Nozzle Verification Technology detects clogged nozzles and performs automatic head cleaning to reduce waste and downtime. Printhead, ink and web control systems are all developed, manufactured and serviced by Epson.
