Better Compatibility with Automotive Power Systems
A typical automotive electrical system runs at 12–14.4V.
Using 9V LEDs allows designers to drive 1 LED + a small resistor directly from the car battery.
3V LEDs need 4 LEDs in series to match the voltage.
